Nevada Day 2019: Activities lineup, start times and more featured around Carson City
The Silver State celebrates its birthday this week in Carson City and will put on a statehood celebration like no other as Nevada Day comes into full swing, featuring the annual parade down Carson Street on Saturday, a carnival at Mills Park, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, activities for adults and kids, contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit every wild hair.
Admitted into statehood on October 31, 1864, Nevada is the only state to continually celebrate its historical entry into the Union, giving true meaning of Home Means Nevada. The modern parade started in 1938 in Carson City but the history of commemorating our statehood predates the 1938 parade by more than 60 years, thanks to the Society of Nevadans who hosted smaller celebrations throughout the state. Go here for the official Nevada Day 2019 website.
The celebration gets underway this week, with the start of the RSVP Nevada Day carnival Thursday. Here is a list of events, dates, times and locations, Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 24 –27, 2019.

Contestants have 10 minutes to pound the drills into the solid stone, their only help is from an assistant who runs water into the hole so the loose stone chips are splashed out with every stroke of the hammer.
